The Judge for the 2010 Competition is Pat Winslow.

This Open Poetry Competition, now in its fifth year, offers contemporary poets writing in English the opportunity to have their work published in short pamphlet, collection and anthology formats. Many poets published from the first four competitions have gone on to have their work recognised in major 'book' competitions including The Forward Prize, The Manchester Poetry Prize, the Glen Dimplex New Writers Awards and many 'single poem' competitions including the National Poetry Prize, Academi Cardiff, The Wigtown Poetry Prize, the Bridport Prize and The Strokestown Poetry Prize. The four winning pamphlets, along with a selection of the best individual poems selected for inclusion in the competition anthology, will be published at the 2010 Derwent Poetry Festival in Derbyshire in November 2010. The festival offers readings to the pamphlet and anthology poets, alongside the Festival guest poets.

The poems and poetry submitted may have been published previously and may be submitted simultaneously for consideration elsewhere, subject to the conditions detailed in the Competition Rules and Conditions.

Four overall winners will be chosen by the Judge, Pat Winslow, and their submissions will be published as individual perfect bound Pamphlets. The winners will also be invited to submit an additional more extensive manuscript for later publication as a full collection. Up to forty of the best long listed poets will be invited to have selected poems published in the competition anthology simultaneously with the winning pamphlets.

In addition ALL writers submitting work receive a complimentary copy of the anthology (RRP £8) in October. Pamphlet and Anthology poets, along with one guest, will enjoy complimentary access to all Festival events. The Competition results will be posted on the Templar Poetry website in late August along with full details of the Derwent Poetry Festival Programme.
