Based in the heart of Derbyshire, Templar Poetry is an independent publisher of excellent contemporary poetry and simultaneously promotes wider access to poetry in the community through the annual Derwent Poetry Festival. The festival hosts the awards event for the annual Templar Poetry Pamphlet and Collection Competition and also features a series of readings for poets published by Templar Poetry alongside guest poets from other publishers. Details of the 2007 Derwent Poetry Festival are available on the Festival page, where tickets may be purchased online. If you are interested in attending the Festival and prefer not to use the online facility bookings may also be arranged by telephoning the Festival Box Office on 01629 582500.
The annual Templar Poetry Pamphlet and Collection Competition offers poets an opportunity to submit their work as short collections. Three pamphlets are chosen by a different judge for publication in pamphlet form and the three winning poets also have the opportunity to submit a full collection for later publication. An anthology of the best individual poems from all the remaining submissions is published alongside Further information about the annual competition are available on the Competitions page.
